Song writing...

I've been feeling the pressure to start writing again. Most of the time Anxiety doesn't help the creative process but some times setting up deadlines is the only way to go. Back in March when we recorded the love came down cd/dvd I literally finished 3 of the songs 30 minutes before the recording. Sooner or later you have to land on something and stick with it. I think the best way to write is to get alot of feedback from several different people. The reason for this is most of the time as writers we get so set on something we loose perspective and need outside ears who won't hear all the little details we hold so tightly too but will hear the overall feel and message of the song. When you write a book there is alot of process involved and I believe songwriting should be the same. Ask yourself the hard questions when you write....

Try new stuff

if you've ever heard of trace bundy hes awesome. but when i met him i got a chord chart for a partial capo.

i got bored with my guitar quite a bit until i started getting into something new like using a partial capo. sorry, i have no lyrics, but maybe something new might spark a freshness that ive gained even with old songs and making them all new.

i have the chord chart on this computer and i could send it to you through email, or you can go to tracebundy.com i think and email him for it as well...

love ya man and God bless :)

"The Cross" Song

Hello!

I love you all's music!!! Here are some words you inspired me to write by suggesting lyrics regarding the cross . . .

What appeared to be a loss
Was really our gain
A surprise ending for the enemy
When You came to life again
They all thought You were down, out for the count
But You will always be the Victor, the One who surmounts!

The cross was the way
The bridge from old to new
That you entered into my life
So that I could be with You

The love that I carry inside
Grows daily as I know You more
It was birthed at the cross
Through blood, water, and pain
You saved me, you saved me, my Friend!

Thank You, God, for sending Your Son
Down that long and lonely path!
I don't reverence the wood, the nails, or the deed
I adore You, for my heart you have freed!
I'm now free to love, to live, and to laugh

You're welcome to use any snippet of the above if it works into one of your songs.

Blessings to you!
lisa :)

Song writing

Hi Brian, this is a song I wrote years ago.

G D
You broke Yourself that I might live
Em
You gave Your body to forgive
G D
You're the One, to bring me closer

G D
For to me to live is Christ
Em
My body a sacrifice
G D
My reward is to bring me closer

G D
From the heavens You came down
Am
Now You're singing all around
Em D
Dancing, rejoicing, loving
G D
And we'll see You face to face
Am
There will be no other place
Em D
Where there's laughing, singing, celebrating
Em G
I wanna be closer (2x)
Em D G
I wanna be closer to You

G D Em G D
There's a passion burning inside
To reach a place and confide
I need You to bring me closer

And the greatest thing of all
is the sound of Your call
inviting me to bring me closer

Song

Hi Brian,

I love the praise and worship from Bethel. Here is a song I wrote some time ago and just a few of the lyrics. I am a stay at home mom with two boys and love to write.

A touch I never felt,
A love given for my hell.
Eyes that beckon me,
I'm back at my beloved's feet.

There's a cross I finally see,
Did it reach that far for me?
Blood is on my hands,
I weep, my beloved isn't just a man.

The moment of surrender,
A moment that's most tender,
Taking of my heart,
Reaching through the dark,
Just to feel your love again.

lyrics

Here try this i just wrote it just for you... lol..
I was messing around with melodies in my head and i think their usable.. maybe a chorus or bridge or something along those lines.

You spent it all on the cross
Restored everything lost
All Creation's set free
Celebrates your victory

maybe" Proclaiming" instead of Celebrates.. i don't know

let me know if anything comes of it.

WOW! I'm so glad you wrote

WOW! I'm so glad you wrote this because I've decided to write a book myself and the whole thought of it at first is QUITE overwhelming. I have found that baby steps is the way to go. One chunk at a time. If I can only write 200 words then that's all I can do. Once the project doesn't become fun anymore then I have a tendency to put it off. Of course accountability and being open to suggestions is a GREAT idea, but I often find myself asking for help and nobody replies. Research is extremely helpful. Reading about the subject I'm writing about helps me be so submersed in the subject that I almost feel as though I am more educated in that subject than the professionals I'm reading from. So my thoughts, or suggestion (take it or leave it) ;-), would be to listen to the music and read about the subject you want to write about and be both submersed in God and that subject and it'll come to you. Hope this helps! Again, blessings to you and your song writing. Always praying for you and Jenn!
